Meetings

The Parish Council normally meets 6 times per year. However, there are often additional meetings to review Planning Applications to meet the 21 day response time required by the Exmoor National Park. Meetings are held in the Bridgetown Village Hall on a Monday evening commencing at 7:30pm in the winter and 8:00pm in the summer.

Public are welcome to attend the meetings either for general information or to comment on specific items but may only speak when invited so to do by the Chair.

At the beginning of the meeting councillors are required to declare any interests in items to be discussed.

Decisions are made by vote and if there is a tie the chair has a casting vote.

Councillors are required to abide by a Code of Conduct and this is set out on the Policies Page.

There is also an Annual Parish Meeting normally held immediately before the May Council Meeting. At that meeting the Chairman reviews the past year and the Parish Clerk explains the financial performance of the Council. The Public are encouraged to attend this meeting to discuss whatever they wish with the Councillors.
